| ARTS OUTREACH FUND OF KALAMAZOO COUNTY (an abbreviated excerpt from the Arts Outreach Fund Guidelines:) INTRODUCTION The Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo continues the Arts Outreach Fund grant program began in 1996 with funds from the National Endowment for the Arts to implement selected recommendations of Kalamazoo's 1990 Community Cultural Plan. The Arts Outreach Fund grant program is now supported with local funds and is administered by the Arts Council. Projects are to be started July 1 and completed by April 30. PURPOSE OF GRANTS The purpose of the Arts Outreach Fund is to take the arts to places they may not ordinarily go. This program funds projects which improve accessibility to the arts for special audiences such as people with disabilities or who are confined, low income, elders, schoolchildren with special needs, racial/ethnic minorities, etc. An important component is bringing quality arts programming to under served and rural areas, where it currently does not exist, and to nurture multi-cultural programming. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION is usually mid - May. ELIGIBILITY Kalamazoo County artists, non-profit arts and/or human service organizations that are current members of the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo are eligible to apply for arts grants up to $1,000. Arts organizations, or human service organizations in partnership with an artist or other arts organization, may submit plan to provide accessible arts programs to clients or patients. Funds for individual artists are for projects shared with the community through an exhibit or performance. Partnerships among artists, arts organizations and human service organizations serving populations with disabilities are encouraged. Schools, colleges or universities are not eligible to apply. For organizations only, a 1: 1 funding match (one dollar from the organization for each dollar requested from the grant) is required. Funding support from other private or corporate sources is encouraged. NO match is needed for individual artists' applications. |
